Entrainment Music
For entrainment music to be effective in altering the mood state, the music needs to be first matched to the current mood state, and then slowly the music needs to move and match the desired mood state. When used properly, entrainment music has been proven to be effective in significantly reducing pain, tension, depression, anxiety and greatly contribute to an improvement in general mood, energy levels, and cognitive tasks.
It must be noted again, you must be careful to not chose music which reinforces your current, undesired mood state. Let me refer again to studies which have shown that music chosen by people themselves had no positive outcomes, because of the fact, that it reflected current mood state versus the desired mood state.
Another way how you could choose music therapy or entrainment music is by selecting radio stations with music only formats. Match them to certain mood states. Then if you are anxious but want to relax you could listen first to music matching the anxious mood state like intense rock music, than move to jazz, I like Dave Brubeck's "Take Five," works all the time, and then move to repetitive, soothing, and slow paced alternative music, I like 1.FM-Chill Out Lounge. Again the music should shift from the undesired mood state to the desired mood state.
I hope this post on entrainment music helps the next time you feel just a little beside yourself because of all the stress you are experiencing. Now you know how to choose your music so you may actually reap all the positive benefits of all the music out there.
