More than a Prescription for Healthy Living:
MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness is an evidence-based modality, that can be useful in helping you to increase life fulfillment. Furthermore, mindfulness can reduce stress, raise self-awareness, and undermine destructive emotive, cognitive, and behavioral processes.
Many people think mindfulness means meditation. This is not the case. Mindfulness is a mental state of openness, awareness, and focus. Meditation is one way, among hundreds, of learning to cultivate this state.
Mindfulness is a compelling modality to enhance psychological flexibility and resilience. Resilience is the capacity to act efficiently and recover quickly in the face of difficulties. Resilience is a key determinant of health and well-being.

Definitions of Mindfulness
Bringing one’s complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis.(Marlatt and Kristeller)
Paying attention in a particular way: On purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. (Kabat-Zinn).
The non-judgmental observation of the ongoing stream of internal and external stimuli as they arise. (Baer)
Paying attention with openness, curiosity, and flexibility. (Harris)
Mindfulness is a Powerful, Evidence-based, Tool to Enhance Health & Wellness
Mindfulness and ACT are supported by research. Mindfulness and ACT can be potent in helping you deal with life’s trying situations and a range of clinical disorders. Among those disorders are chronic pain, chronic stress, anxiety disorders, depression, and PTSD (trauma).
