Create a Life That You Love with Mindfulness

Discover How MINDFULNESS Can Help YOU Better Deal With:

  • life’s difficult situations
  • chronic stress and pain
  • anxiety and depression
  • trauma
  • ADD/ADHD
  • chronic illness and cancer

More than a Prescription for Healthy Living:

MINDFULNESS

Mindfulness is an evidence-based modality, that can be useful in helping you to increase life fulfillment. Furthermore, mindfulness can reduce stress, raise self-awareness, and undermine destructive emotive, cognitive, and behavioral processes.

Many people think mindfulness means meditation. This is not the case. Mindfulness is a mental state of openness, awareness, and focus. Meditation is one way, among hundreds, of learning to cultivate this state.

Mindfulness is a compelling modality to enhance psychological flexibility and resilience. Resilience is the capacity to act efficiently and recover quickly in the face of difficulties. Resilience is a key determinant of health and well-being.

CONTACT the PRESENT MOMENT

Engage fully with your here-and-now experience, openness, and curiosity

DEFUSE

distance yourself from, and let go of, unhelpful thoughts, beliefs, and memories

ACCEPTANCE

make room for painful feelings and sensations, allowing them to come and go without a struggle

OBSERVING SELF

Become aware of thoughts and feelings as passing experiences without identifying with them

FOCUS on VALUES

What you would like to be remembered for by the people you love.

COMMITTED ACTION

Guided by your values – do what matters – even if it’s difficult or wearisome

Definitions of Mindfulness

Bringing one’s complete attention to the present experience on a moment-to-moment basis.(Marlatt and Kristeller)

Paying attention in a particular way: On purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. (Kabat-Zinn).

The non-judgmental observation of the ongoing stream of internal and external stimuli as they arise. (Baer)

Paying attention with openness, curiosity, and flexibility. (Harris)

Mindfulness is a Powerful, Evidence-based, Tool to Enhance Health & Wellness

Mindfulness and ACT are supported by research. Mindfulness and ACT can be potent in helping you deal with life’s trying situations and a range of clinical disorders. Among those disorders are chronic pain, chronic stress, anxiety disorders, depression, and PTSD (trauma).

Support Your Workforce with Mindfulness Training

Dr. Werner’s research-based, mindfulness approach is sustainable and easy-to-implement. He facilitates the small group (6-to 12 persons) workplace training in six weekly sessions. The workforce mindfulness training can help you create a resilient and committed workforce.

Why Consult with an Scholar-Practitioner?

Werner Absenger

Dr. Werner Absenger is a scholar-practitioner. He draws from various conceptual, theoretical, philosophical, and methodological tools. This allows him to create a bricolage of scholarly practice.

Scholar-practitioners reflect on and assess the impact of their work. Doing so allows them to shape their own identity. At the same time, they enable their clients’ wellbeing and development of their identities.

Dr. Werner holds a Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine and an M.S. in Human Nutrition. At Saybrook University he teaches general and advanced nutritional biochemistry and quantitative research. He also supervises doctoral students’ research in mind-body modalities.

Let Dr. Werner Show You how ACTing Mindfully can Change Your Life for the Better

Dr. Werner draws on principles of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), which has roots in mindfulness. He can teach you how to hold your thoughts and feelings gently and willingly while pursuing what matters most to you.

Using mindfulness and principles of ACT, Dr. Werner will support and encourage you to notice what is actually happening in the here and now:

Accept and consciously deal with difficult thoughts and feelings
Connect with what’s important in your life (your values)
Take effective action towards your values to solve your problems

How Much Does it Cost? Isn’t it Expensive? What is Dr. Werner’s Fee?

The cost of professional services for mental health varies by practitioner. You can generally expect to be charged from $80-$250 per session.

However, when considering the cost, consider the cost compared to other everyday expenses, such as:

  • Barber/hairdresser – $30-130/hr depending upon the service
  • Personal trainer – $60-$100/hour
  • Massage therapist – $40-$80/hour

Considering the potential benefits of increasing your quality of life, is the cost of working with Dr. Werner too expensive? Only you can decide that.

Dr. Werner’s professional fees are:

  • $200 for the first 50-minute evaluation
  • $160 for each subsequent session (generally 45 minutes)
    • Small Group Sessions: Facilitated in six weekly small-group (6-to 12 participants) workplace training sessions
      • $300 per person

Do you Accept Insurance?

Dr. Werner’s practice is based on a Fee-for-Service model. He DOES NOT accept insurance. By cutting the middle man (health insurance) out of the equation, Dr. Werner can give you the personalized services that you need, dramatically increasing convenience and client satisfaction.

Pain is Inevitable. Suffering is Optional!
