Homeopathic Treatment of Childhood Diseases "Chicken Pox"
Many previously common childhood diseases (measles, German measles, mumps, whooping cough, diphtheria) are now rare, For some of these conditions this decrease was largely the result of immunizations, and for others it was merely their natural evolution as infectious diseases.
Homeopathy offers relatively effective treatment for these conditions, but it is not worthwhile discussing this subject because of the rare appearance of these diseases. Chicken pox, on the other hand, is one of the persisting childhood illnesses for which homeopathy offers treatment. Homeopaths have noted, in particular, that microdoses seem to prevent the complications that occasionally result from chicken pox.
Although there are several medicines that should be considered, the most common chicken pox remedy is Rhus tox (poison ivy). Rhus tox is effective in treating chicken pox because it causes itching and burning skin symptoms similar to this condition. Other medicines that should be considered are Pulsatilla (windflower), Antimonium tartaricum (tartar emetic), Antimonium crudum (black sulphide of antimony), Arsenicum (arsenic), Belladonna (deadly nightshade), and Mercurius (mercury).
Homeopathy is also effective in treating common infectious diseases of childhood, including ear infections and strep throat. One of the more common childhood difficulties is what is often called "hyperactivity." It is also sometimes called "attention deficit disorder," "learning disability," or "minimal brain damage." Although it seems that many children are hyperactive, only a relatively small percentage of those seem to be truly ill.
