An event every week that begins at 9:30am on Saturday, repeating until March 25, 2017
Gentle Yoga on the Mat
Yoga can help you with anxiety, depression, flexibility, balance, blood pressure, and support sound sleep. Enjoy this gentle class while relieving cancer pain. This class is great for the beginner to the advanced.
Gentle yoga may be a hidden treasure. Gentle yoga is applicable for beginning to advanced yoga practitioners.
However, don’t let the name fool you. A gentle class does not automatically imply that it is an “easy” class. Gentle yoga moves at somewhat of a slower pace, however. The postures in this type of yoga are usually done on the floor with some standing poses intermingled.
Gentle yoga practice allows for poses being held for a short period. Your instructor will generally have many props available. You still will get a great workout, but at a low-intensity level.
You may find the article “9 Reasons Yoga Makes Life Better for Breast Cancer Survivors” helpful to discern whether yoga classes are for you. The gentle or chair yoga classes are part of ACEF’s Living Well in Breast Cancer Survivorship (LWBCS) program. All classes are FREE & for breast cancer survivors because of funding from Susan G. Komen Michigan.
How does ACEF’s Living Well in Breast Cancer Survivorship Program Work?
ACEF’s Drop-in Classes:
If you are a breast cancer patient or survivor, ACEF’s Living Well in Breast Cancer Survivorship (LWBCS) program allows you to enter any drop-in class free of charge. No advance registration is necessary for Yoga and Meditation.
If it is your first time attending any of ACEF’s LWBCS classes, we ask that you complete a brief questionnaire to help us and our funders tailor future programs to the Lakeshore’s breast cancer survivors.
