Happy Labor Day,
I hope this edition of The Alternative Medicine Blog’s CAM News finds you healthy and relaxed from the long gorgeous weekend. I can’t believe it is September already. We’ll let’s dig in yet another issue of CAM News.
September 9, I will be in Lansing at MSU presenting “Is this the Future of Food?” Join Vancey, Fatou, Cynthia and myself for this educational seminar about genetically engineered foods. Our presentation will be followed by a panel discussion and dialogue on genetically modified foods, the European and African perspectives, the relationship to healthy eating. The cost of this event is $20/ $10 MSU Faculty / $5 students. Light refreshments (using local food) will be provided. For more information call 231-780-4501. You may inquire with Vancey at vbown@aol.com or Jay Tomczak at tomczak1@msu.edu about further details of this event. The morning will conclude with a tour of MSU’s student organic farm.
In order to keep my promise about informing you about the latest in CAM it is necessary form me to continue my education. From time to time I will give you a quick review of my progress. Here we go. I have one year left until I graduate from Everglades University with a BS of Science with a Major in Alternative Medicine. In order to keep my options open, I am considering to become a Doctor of Naturopathy, I started my first pre-med class at Muskegon Community College, Biology. At the moment I am considering two colleges; Bastyr University and National College of Natural Medicine.
AMACF is in full swing. Our fund raising is going very good. Thanks to a couple of very generous donors we are only $1,300 away of meeting our first fundraising deadline. I have covered this topic before, but here is a quick review. We are raising $2,850 in order to establish AMACF as a “Not For Profit” organization. On September 11, I have an appointment with my attorney to tackle the first step, forming an LLC in the state of Michigan. More on this in future posts at The Alternative Medicine Blog.
And now actually some health information you can use right away, and hope you will find helpful. On the blog I am in the midst of a series dedicated to stress management and relaxation. The very foundation of Alternative Medicine is proper prevention of disease. The only way we can prevent serious damage caused by long term chronic stress (read cancer, heart disease, diabetes) is to combat it early on. Since chronic stress is not always easily spotted I am discussing certain things you can do to recognize when your body is in the “Stress Response Mode.” I am highlighting some of the techniques over the next several months in the category of Relaxation Therapy.
[fname], that is it for this month. The next time you hear from me the leaves will have turned a magnitude of colors signaling a great season full in swing: Fall. Be safe, enjoy the sun’s last warming rays, as you prepare yourself for the cold season ahead.
Beste Gesundheit,
Werner
