Homeopathic Acute Prescribing II
Flu as an Example
Some common homeopathic flu remedies are:
Gelsemium
Arsenicum
Eupatorium
Bryonia
Rhus toxicodendron
GELSEMIUM
The main symptom in a Gelsemium flu is weakness. The homeopathic patient is said to be “dull, drowsy, dizzy, and droopy.” They have difficulty doing anything but lying around; they may feel physically heavy, as if it’s a lot of extra effort to move, and they may feel as if their muscles have lost all their strength. If they have to get up and move around, they will want to do so slowly and gently, and they may feel dizzy. Their muscles may even feel so weak that they tremble when they try to move.
If the person has a headache, it begins in the back of the head; they may have some visual disturbances with it, as if their eyes are too heavy, weak, and slow to focus correctly.
Emotionally, the Gelsemium patient prefers to stay quiet. They don’t feel up to any challenges at all, and even having visitors may seem like too much effort.
A peculiar aspect of Gelsemium is that they may feel better after urinating. The weakness and/or the headache may improve for a while after passing urine.
